The Ecumenical Chaplaincy for the Homeless

We exist to be an expression of the presence of Christ among the homeless population in the Valley.

We do this by ministries of presence, direct service, advocacy, and spirituality in order to assist homeless and poverty stricken people in their effort to rebuild their lives.

DHPC members can easily participate in our Chaplaincy for the Homeless program by signing up for the Safeway Stores Escrip program, which gives the homeless a percentage of your purchase amounts when you shop at Safeway.  Go to www.escrip.com to register (have your Safeway card number ready), or call Candy Green at 480-502-1526 and she will register you.  Our ID# is 9606542.

Bashas has a similar program called "Thanks a Million".  To do this, simply mention our number, 23497 when you check out.  You will only need to do this once and a percentage of your purchase amounts will continue to go to the homeless.

Yet another way to help benefit the homeless is by having Sunday brunch at The Carefree Station off Easy Street in the Spanish Village of downtown
Carefree.  Simply tell your server that you are from DHPC and the restaurant will donate 3% of your bill back to our church.

Volunteers can meet in Fellowship Hall the first Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. to help assemble hygiene kits for the homeless.
