Musical Opportunities at Desert Hills!

Providing the fundamental support for music at our two traditionally based services is the CHANCEL CHOIR. This group, directed by Dr. Karin Thomas and accompanied by Skye Hart rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings at 7-8:15 PM in the choir room. We are always looking for new members, and even if you can only participate on occasion, please come!
We sing a wide variety of music, from Bach to more contemporary composers. For more information, please contact Karin at 480-837-7008 or music@deserthills.org.
The CELEBRATION CHORUS is a group of volunteers from the Chancel Choir that sing mostly gospel and upbeat Christian music arrangements. Their practice schedule varies depending upon the musical needs of the church, but generally practices are held two Wednesdays a month, prior to Chancel Choir rehearsal. The chorus is directed by Eddie Smith, who can be reached at 480-595-4767 or esmith53@cox.net.
The HANDBELL CHOIR, directed by Juana Fredrick was established in 1996. They practice every Sunday from August 15 through the end of the following May, following the second service. The rehearsals generally last 1 hour and 15 minutes. The membership of this choir includes high school age through octogenarians, who enjoy ringing God's praise. If you can count and move your hands in a rhythm, you can ring. Music can be color coded to allow even those who do not read music the opportunity to play. Additional members are needed so that we can always have a full choir when we ring during services. They attempt to participate in worship at least one Sunday a month and work on music in advance of those Sundays.
If you have an interest in participating, or in finding out more about ringing, you are invited to contact Bunny Allen at 480-488-6241 or Juana Fredrick at 602-482-0783. We invite you, regardless of age, ability, or perceived musical talent to join us in ringing God's Praises.
